My 2007 (Budget!) Gaming PC Project

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 at 1:18 pm under Play, Games

Gone is Insectivore, my old Celeron 300MHz SD 196MB. This PC I’m using now, Muymra, is a three year old AthlonXP 1800+ DDR 512MB whose knees have weakened and is likely on it’s last throes before it finally dies of old age. It’s actually running at 1.2GHz just so it doesn’t keep freezing up. This phased out Nvidia FX5600 128MB acts up every once in a while to bombard me with ugly square artifacts, usually at crucial moments while playing a game. Before it pisses me off enough to break it, I’m going to peacefully retire it out of pity and start planning for my next baby.

My P30,000 budget is fairly reasonable for a gaming PC considering I plan to transfer devices over from my current PC such as extra hard disks, my 19″ CRT, and my DVD-RW.

This list will be changed according to my most current list of parts to be purchased:

Part Price Store
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86G) 2MB PhP 9,900 Rising Sun
ASUS P5L-MX A/V/L/DDR2/PCI-E/Conroe PhP 4,650 Rising Sun
PQI 1GB PC667 DDR2 PhP 4,100 Rising Sun
Palit Nvidia 7600GS Sonic DDR3 256MB 128Bit PCI-E PhP 4,850 Rising Sun
Seagate Barracuda 160GB 7200rpm SATA PhP 3,100 Rising Sun
ATX JNC-RJA280 White with keyboard PhP 1,250 Rising Sun
450W Task Dual Fan ver2.0 PhP 2,750 Rising Sun
Assembly PhP 500 Rising Sun
Running total PhP 31,100

Next set of problems, coming up with the money by this summer and thinking of a new name.

Update: I’m halfway there, another month or so of holding off any impulse buying and I’ll have the money to buy this thing. Maybe add another month if I want to gift myself with a sweet Wacom Intuos.
